God is worth the wait
On a day set apart for Him, lift your eyes off the answer you are waiting for and onto the God you are waiting on. The point of waiting was never only to get the thing. It is to come out of it holding more of God than you had going in. He is the One worth waiting for, and the people who waited on Him in Scripture say the same thing on the far side: this is our God, and we are glad we waited. Whatever you are still waiting for, let today be about Him more than the outcome. Rest in the God whose goodness has never disappointed the ones who put their hope in Him.
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is Jehovah; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
Isaiah 25:9 · ASVThose who waited point to God and say, this is the One we waited for. On the far side of the wait, the response is gladness in Him.
The eyes of all wait for thee; and thou givest them their food in due season.
Psalm 145:15 · ASVThe psalm pictures all creation waiting on God, who provides at the right time. Waiting on Him is the natural posture of everything that depends on Him.
It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah.
Lamentations 3:26 · ASVJeremiah calls it good to hope and wait for God's deliverance. The waiting itself is named as a good thing, not merely the answer at the end.
For in thee, O Jehovah, do I hope: thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.
Psalm 38:15 · ASVDavid grounds his hope in God and is sure of an answer from Him. Hope and the certainty of God's reply hold him through the wait.
