Praise ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optional location information.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, including prayers saved, verses favorited, and app preferences.
- Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system, and app version for analytics and troubleshooting purposes.
Sensitive Information
Praise may collect sensitive information including:
- Religious or philosophical beliefs (through prayers and faith preferences)
- Health information (if you share prayer requests about health concerns)
- Location data (if you provide your city/state for community features)
We only collect this information with your explicit consent and use it solely to provide the app's features. You can delete this information at any time through your account settings.
Under GDPR, you have the right to object to processing of sensitive data. Under CCPA, you can opt out of the sale of sensitive personal information (we do not sell your data).
Third-Party Service Providers
We share your information with the following service providers to operate the app:
- Google Firebase: Cloud storage for prayers, user profiles, and authentication
- OpenAI: AI-powered prayer generation and verse search (your prayer text is sent to OpenAI's API but is not used to train their models)
- Sentry: Crash reporting and error monitoring (no personal prayer content is sent)
- RevenueCat: Subscription and payment processing
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: Authentication services (if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple)

Artificial Intelligence
We use AI (powered by OpenAI) to:
- Generate personalized prayers based on your input
- Search for relevant Bible verses
- Provide verse recommendations
When you use these features, your text input is sent to OpenAI's servers for processing. OpenAI does not use your data to train their models. The AI-generated content is returned to you and stored locally on your device.
You can choose not to use AI features and still access all core prayer content.
Safety and Crisis Detection
To protect user safety, we use automated content detection to identify prayers that may indicate a crisis situation (such as self-harm, abuse, or addiction). If concerning content is detected:
- We will show you resources for professional help (crisis hotlines, support services)
- The content is NOT published to the community
- A record may be saved for support team review (to improve our safety systems)
- We do NOT contact emergency services or third parties without your consent

How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve our services
- Personalize your experience
- Send you prayer reminders (if enabled)
- Respond to your support requests
- Analyze app usage to improve features
- Detect and prevent harmful content
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Prayer content you create is stored locally on your device and synced to secure cloud servers if you have an account. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, plus:
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account
- Community prayers: Retained indefinitely (anonymized if you delete your account)
- Prayer activity logs: Retained for 2 years, or until you delete your account, whichever is sooner
- Support/moderation records: Retained for 3 years for legal compliance
- Deleted account backups: Purged within 30 days
You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting hello@praise-app.com, or use the in-app account deletion feature.
International Data Transfers
If you use Praise from outside the United States, your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our service providers (Google Firebase, OpenAI) are located.
We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers, including:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Compliance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where applicable)
By using Praise, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.

If you are under 13, do not use this app or provide any information. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
