Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Praise, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use Praise. By using the app, you represent and warrant that you are 13 years of age or older.
If we learn that a user is under 13, we will terminate their account and delete their data immediately.
Disclaimer of Medical and Mental Health Services
IMPORTANT: Praise is a devotional app and does NOT provide medical, mental health, therapy, counseling, or crisis intervention services.
- The app is not monitored 24/7
- We are not trained crisis counselors or medical professionals
- Crisis resources shown in the app are third-party services (we are not liable for their availability or actions)
- If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or medical emergency, call 911 or contact 988 Lifeline immediately
BY USING THIS APP, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE:
- You will not rely on Praise for crisis intervention
- You understand that automated crisis detection is not perfect and may miss dangerous situations
- You release Praise from all liability related to crisis situations, mental health outcomes, or harm
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND seeking professional help from licensed therapists, counselors, or medical providers for mental health concerns.
Use of Service
Praise is designed to support your spiritual practice through daily prayers, Bible verses, and reflection tools. You agree to use the app for its intended purpose and in accordance with all applicable laws.
User Accounts
You may use Praise as a guest or create an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and update it as needed.
Content Guidelines
When sharing prayers in the community, you agree to:
- Be respectful of others
- Not post offensive or inappropriate content
- Not share personal information of others
- Not use the platform for commercial purposes
Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Behavior. Praise has zero tolerance for objectionable content, including but not limited to content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence or self-harm toward others, and zero tolerance for abusive users. You agree not to submit such content or engage in such behavior. We will remove objectionable content and may suspend or terminate the accounts of users who post it.
No Personal Information or Doxxing. You may not post other people's private or identifying information (including full names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or images) without their consent. Doxxing will be removed and may result in account termination.
Content Moderation and Removal
We reserve the right to:
- Remove any content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines
- Suspend or terminate accounts for violations
- Use automated systems and human moderators to review content
- Remove content without prior notice if it poses immediate harm
Shadow Hold: Content that receives multiple reports may be hidden from public view while under review. It remains visible to you but not to other users until moderation is complete.
You can appeal content removal by contacting hello@praise-app.com.
Reporting and Response. We provide a mechanism to report objectionable content within the app. We will review reports and remove violating content promptly, and may suspend or terminate the responsible user's account. Reported content may be hidden from public view while under review.
Child Safety and Illegal Content. We do not tolerate content that sexually exploits minors or facilitates illegal activity. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by law and cooperate with law enforcement.
Blocking. You can block any user from the prayer's menu. Blocking hides that person's content from you and yours from them, and stops any interaction between you.
User Content License
You retain ownership of prayers and content you create. However, by publishing content to the community, you grant Praise a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Display your content in the app
- Store and reproduce your content on our servers
- Moderate and remove content that violates our policies
This license continues even if you delete your account (for content you published publicly). We anonymize attribution if you delete your account, but the content may remain.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have rights to the content you post
- Your content does not violate any third-party rights
- Your content does not violate any laws
Subscriptions & Payments
Premium features require a subscription. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage your subscription through your App Store account settings.
Pricing: Current subscription pricing is displayed in the app. Prices may change with notice.
Refunds: Refunds are handled by Apple according to their App Store policies. Contact Apple Support for refund requests.
Free Trial: If offered, the free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
Intellectual Property
The app design, features, and original content are owned by Praise. Bible verses are from public domain translations (American Standard Version). You retain ownership of prayers and content you create.
Limitation of Liability
Praise is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- We are not liable for any loss of data, revenue, or profits
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Praise and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of:
- Your use of the app
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Content you submit to the app
Dispute Resolution
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: This section affects your legal rights.
Binding Arbitration: Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of Praise will be resolved through binding arbitration (not court), except for:
- Small claims court disputes (under $10,000)
- Intellectual property claims
- Injunctive relief
Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action, collective action, or representative action.
Opt-Out: You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first use by emailing hello@praise-app.com with your name and email.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
