Nothing can separate you
By the end of the week the question underneath all of it is whether any of this can be lost. Scripture answers plainly that nothing can separate you from God's love, including the failure you keep treating as the exception. What keeps you is God's grip on you, and it does not loosen when yours does. This matters most in the low moments, when you assume you have finally drifted too far. You have not. The same love that claimed you keeps you, and no one can take you out of His hand. You can rest in a security you did not build and cannot break.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor things present, nor things to come, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 · ASVPaul lists powers people fear, death, life, the present, and the future, and concludes none can separate believers from God's love in Christ. The security rests on God's love, which these forces cannot overpower.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
John 10:28 · ASVJesus says His sheep have eternal life, will never perish, and cannot be snatched from His hand. The safety described depends on the strength of the Shepherd's grip.
Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy.
Zephaniah 3:17 · ASVZephaniah pictures God present among His people as a mighty savior who rejoices over them with singing. The verse depicts gladness, not mere tolerance, in God's posture toward them.
The eternal God is thy dwelling-place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Deuteronomy 33:27 · ASVMoses calls the eternal God a refuge, with everlasting arms underneath His people. The image combines a secure shelter and unfailing support beneath them.
