Trust when nothing moves
The hardest stretch of waiting is when nothing moves at all, no sign, no hint of which way it will go. That silence can make you wonder whether anything is happening. Scripture says God is at work for those who wait for Him, in ways no one has ever fully seen. Your part is to keep believing you will see His goodness, even now. David said he would have lost heart if he had not believed he would see God's goodness in the land of the living. Borrow that line when the silence gets loud. Choose to trust that God is moving in what you cannot detect, and keep your eyes open for the goodness He has promised to show.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living.
Psalm 27:13 · ASVDavid admits he would have lost heart without the belief that he would yet see God's goodness. Faith here is the decision to expect good from God before any of it shows.
For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God besides thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for him.
Isaiah 64:4 · ASVIsaiah says no one has seen any god like ours, who works on behalf of those who wait. God is active for the waiting, doing what eyes cannot catch.
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Psalm 143:8 · ASVDavid asks to hear of God's love at daybreak, grounding the request in his trust. Trust is what he brings to the wait, and God's love is what he listens for.
My soul waiteth for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning; yea, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm 130:6 · ASVThe psalmist compares his waiting to watchmen longing for daybreak, sure it will come. The waiting is intense, and the dawn it expects is certain.
