Travel light
Some of what you carry was never yours to carry, things like control, worry, the need to keep everyone happy, or the image you keep up. Today is for setting some of it down. You were not built to haul all of that, and most of it is heavier than the life underneath it. Traveling light is not irresponsibility, it is trusting God with the load you keep trying to carry for Him. Pick one weight you have been carrying and consciously hand it over, then resist the urge to take it back. Notice how much room opens up when your arms are not full of things only God was meant to carry.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:29 · ASVJesus invites the weary to take His yoke and learn from Him, promising rest for the soul. The yoke imagery presents discipleship under Christ as the path to rest.
Let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
Hebrews 12:1 · ASVThe writer urges laying aside every weight and the sin that clings, in order to run the race with endurance. The weights include not only sin but anything that hinders the runner.
Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside still waters.
Psalm 23:1-2 · ASVThe Shepherd makes the sheep lie down in green pastures and leads them beside still waters. The picture is of a shepherd providing rest the sheep would not arrange on their own.
Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Psalm 131:2 · ASVDavid pictures his soul as a contented, weaned child resting with its mother. He has settled his soul into trust, no longer fretting for what it wants.
