His word stands when feelings fade
In a dry stretch your feelings turn unreliable, telling you God is distant or done. The remedy is to stand on something steadier than how you feel. God's word does not change with your mood, and He has said plainly that He will never leave you, which stays true on the days you sense nothing. When your emotions argue that He has gone distant, answer them with what He has already said, because His word stays put while feelings rise and fall, and it can take your full weight.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever.
Isaiah 40:8 · ASVIsaiah contrasts fading grass and flowers with the word of God, which stands forever. The point is that what God has spoken outlasts everything that withers.
Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5 · ASVThe writer quotes God's own promise: I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee. The double negative is emphatic, He is ruling out abandonment entirely.
Thou art nigh, O Jehovah; and all thy commandments are truth.
Psalm 119:151 · ASVDavid says Thou art nigh, O Jehovah, and ties it to God's commandments being truth. God's nearness and His trustworthy word stand together.
God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and will he not do it?
Numbers 23:19 · ASVBalaam declares that God is not a man that He should lie, and that what He has said He will do. The verse grounds the reliability of God's promises in His unchanging nature.
