God Is Near Tuesday, June 9, 2026

He hears you

The fear underneath unanswered prayer is that no one is on the other end. When prayers seem to go nowhere, the story we tell ourselves is that He did not catch it, or caught it and ignored us. Scripture says the opposite. God is near to everyone who calls on Him, and He hears. A delay in the answer is not evidence He missed the prayer. Instead of reading silence as a closed line, keep bringing Him what is on your mind. You are not talking into an empty room. He hears, and being heard does not depend on getting an immediate reply.

Through the day
Morning

The righteous cried, and Jehovah heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles.

Psalm 34:17 · ASV

David states it as a pattern: the righteous cry out, and Jehovah hears and delivers. Crying out and being heard go together, even when the rescue takes time.

Afternoon

Jehovah is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Psalm 145:18 · ASV

The psalm says God is near to all who call on Him in truth. Nearness here is tied to prayer, with God close to those who call on Him honestly.

Evening

And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.

1 John 5:14 · ASV

John gives believers confidence that when we ask according to God's will, He hears us. Being heard is the starting point, settled, before any answer arrives.

Night

But know that Jehovah hath set apart for himself him that is godly: Jehovah will hear when I call unto him.

Psalm 4:3 · ASV

David reassures himself that God has set apart the godly and will hear when he calls. He preaches the fact back to his own doubt instead of letting the doubt have the last word.
