Who You Are to God Monday, June 1, 2026

You are His, by His choice

We start where your whole identity is anchored: you belong to God because He decided you would. He claimed you first, before you found Him and before you had anything to show for it. This is easy to turn into doctrine and hard to feel on an ordinary day. So make it concrete. You are not auditioning for a place with God. You already have one, given to you, with your name on it. Move through today as someone who belongs to Him, because that is what is true, and notice how much pressure comes off.

Through the day
Morning

Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine.

Isaiah 43:1 · ASV

God speaks this to Israel as the One who formed and redeemed them. To call someone by name and say thou art mine is the language of ownership, and the command fear not rests on that prior claim rather than on the hearer's courage.

Afternoon

Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit.

John 15:16 · ASV

Jesus tells the disciples they did not choose Him. He is the one who chose and appointed them, which stresses that the initiative in the relationship came from Him first.

Evening

But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession.

1 Peter 2:9 · ASV

Peter applies titles once given to Israel, a chosen race and a people for God's own possession, to the church. The phrase marks believers as fully belonging to God rather than standing at the edges.

Night

Know ye that Jehovah, he is God: it is he that hath made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Psalm 100:3 · ASV

The psalm calls people to know that Jehovah is God, who made us and to whom we belong. The image of sheep of His pasture pictures a flock that is owned, watched over, and provided for by its shepherd.
