David answers his own fear with a question. If God is his light, his salvation, and the strength of his life, who is even left to be afraid of? The threats are real, and David knows it. He sets them down next to God and asks you to see which one is bigger.
He wrote this with enemies all around him, nowhere near safe. His confidence runs alongside the danger and beyond it, because God was greater than anything able to hurt him.
Fear feeds on staring at the threat. This verse lifts your eyes off it and onto God instead. With Him as your light and your strength, the question of who is left to fear has already started answering itself.
